The Analytics Every Creator Should Be Tracking (But Most Aren't)

Platform analytics tell you who saw your content. Campaign analytics tell you what they did next. The second set of numbers is the one that changes how brands pay you.

The analytics that come built into every platform: impressions, reach, profile visits, story views: are available to everyone. They cost nothing and they differentiate nothing. The data that changes your rate, improves your negotiating position, and builds the kind of track record that brands pay a premium for is different, harder to get by default, and almost never surfaced on a creator's portfolio or rate card.

Two kinds of analytics, two completely different conversations

Platform analytics: impressions, views, profile visits, story reach: are available to every creator with a professional account. They're fine for understanding content performance. They are essentially useless for proving commercial value to a brand, because they measure attention, not action.

Campaign analytics: clicks from your unique link, signup conversions, purchase conversions, cost per acquisition: are the numbers that determine whether a brand hires you again and at what rate. These require infrastructure that most creators don't have by default.

Platform analytics tell you who watched. Campaign analytics tell you what they did next. Brands make budget decisions based on what people do next.

The metrics that actually change your rates

The analytics worth tracking and owning: permanently, across every campaign: are: click-through rate from your content to brand destination; conversion rate from click to signup or purchase; cost per acquisition by campaign and by content format; revenue driven per campaign; and comparison across brands and content types to identify your strongest-converting category.

When you have this data across multiple campaigns, you can answer the question every brand is implicitly asking: "If I give this creator ₦500,000, what am I likely to get back?" A creator who can answer that question with historical data is negotiating from a position that most of their peers simply don't have access to.

How performance data compounds over time

The value of campaign analytics is not just immediate. It compounds. After five campaigns, you have a dataset that shows your conversion pattern across content types, brand categories, and audience cohorts. After ten, you have a trackable thesis about which kinds of campaigns you run most effectively for which kinds of brands: and that thesis is worth real money.

Creators who build this data record over time become progressively harder to undervalue. The evidence base for premium rates grows with every campaign. Brands who want that specific data: the proof that you convert: have to pay for access to it. The best place to surface that data, once you have it, is your creator portfolio.

Performance data from your campaigns is one of the few assets in your creator business that grows in value without you doing additional work. Every campaign you track adds to a record that makes the next negotiation easier.
